This course will cover dance basics and help you learn moves that can improve performance for comedic characters, find the correct posture for period projects, learn the essential steps in any musical theatre combo, and answer the age-old question of 'Where am I going to take a dance class?' A fun and safe learning environment for actors that want to improve coordination, learn choreography, and add more dance skills to their repertoire!

Maggie Hatfield has been in the performing arts industry for over a decade, growing up with her family’s very own dinner theatre performing in the shows from a young age. She earned a B.A. degree in Theatre Performance from Longwood University, where she played roles such as Queen Titania in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Annie in Evil Dead: the Musical, Helen of Troy in Trojan Women, and Hedda in Hedda Gabler where she was nominated for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship by the American College Theatre Festival. 

 She has worked with professional companies like the Virginia Stage Company, the Virginia Shakespeare Festival, the Raleigh Women's Theatre Festival and the Sycamore Rouge Theatre. 


Learning and building on the fun of Improvisation with a focus on growing the skill to use on a daily basis. Using warm-ups, exercises, games, and different forms of Improv to grow basic skills. The class is open to any level of experience.

A course on the journey of sketch comedy. From types of sketches, content creation, scriptwriting, and production. This will be a fun experience from start to finish.

Saturdays Oct 17th-Nov 21st 6:00-9:00pm $225 per student, Limited space, Adults 18+

Matt White is a class clown success story. He went from distracting classmates to engaging audiences. Winner of 2020 NC Funniest, 2013 Carolina’s Funniest, & 2012 Port City’s Top Comic. Matt’s Mission is to find the funny in every situation. 

White performs comedy (Improv, Sketch, and Stand Up), but is also an Actor, Producer, and Writer. Matt’s dedication and passion to the craft shine through as he gives back to the comedy community  He coaches/teaches stand-up, sketch, and improvisation classes.

White has performed at Cleveland Comedy Festival (Best Of Fest), LA Diversity In Comedy Festival, Big Pine Comedy Festival, and Asheville Comedy Festival.  He is one of the co-producers/founders of the Oak City Comedy Festival, Raleigh NC's only 5-day comedy festival. Here are a few comics Matt has shared the stage with: Bobcat Goldthwait, Nicole Beyer, Donnell Rawlings, Brent Morin, Tim Meadows, Dusty Slay, Randy Feltface, Tig Notaro, Jordan Carlos, and JP Sears.


with DARYL RAY These classes will focus on the basics of acting in front of the camera. Classes will consist of cinematic storytelling, the audition process, and the guidelines of on-set etiquette.

ON-CAMERA COMMERCIAL ACTING with DARYL RAY These classes will focus on the techniques of commercial acting. Classes will consist of the basics of the audition process and the techniques of commercial acting.

This class is for students interested in learning and being introduced all aspects of musical theatre. In this 6 week in person course, students will learn how to perfect the craft of all 3 areas of musical theatre; singing, acting, and dancing. Students will receive audition tips, assistance with choosing monologues and 16-32 bar cuts of songs, and personalized coaching and feedback. Feedback will be individualized to each student and provided verbally and in written form. The first 2 weeks, we will focus on acting. The next 2 weeks, singing. The last 2 weeks, dancing. The beginning of each 2 week increment will be instruction and the end will be performance time. 

Alli Mae Carnes is a full time actor, choreographer, and teacher. Originally from Florida, she grew up dancing professionally in the Nutcracker Ballet then Walt Disney World. Since moving to the Triangle in 2018, Alli has performed in multiple shows, and has worked as a head choreographer and dance teacher for North Carolina Theatre Conservatory, Raleigh ACT, Stage Door Dance, Gallery Players Theatre, and Raleigh Little Theatre. She is also a private business owner, teaching private and group lessons in voice, acting, and dance.
